Hartlepool moved 11 points clear at the top of the Third Division with a goalless draw at York.

The Minstermen missed the chance to move into the automatic promotion spots and remain in a play-off spot.

Anthony Shandran's weak shot failed to trouble Hartlepool goalkeeper Anthony Williams early on, while at the other end Tommy Widdrington's volleyed attempt was straight at Michael Ingham.

Hartlepool striker Adam Boyd was clean through shortly after the restart.

But his shot was palmed clear by Ingham, and minutes later Graeme Lee's header came back off the post, with Boyd failing to score the rebound.

The visitors were dominating as Ingham pulled off a superb save with his legs to deny Eifion Williams, while Ritchie Humphreys flashed a shot wide.

Widdrington fired wide at the death as the home side held on.
