Sheff Wed 0-0 Leicester

Battling Sheffield Wednesday grabbed their fourth draw in five Division One matches as they held high-flying Leicester at Hillsborough.

It was a deserved point for Terry Yorath's men as they stalled Leicester's charge behind leaders Portsmouth at the top of the table.

Leicester almost took a first-minute lead when a brilliant 25-yard drive from Muzzy Izzet was parried away by Kevin Pressman.

Alan Quinn replied for Wednesday but his fifth-minute strike fizzed past Ian Walker's left post.

Izzet was finding a lot of space early on and ghosted into the area to meet Billy McKinlay's cross only to see his header go over the bar.

As fortunes see-sawed Quinn saw his 13th-minute shot from the edge of the area flash over the Leicester bar.

Wednesday were beginning to get on top and Paul McLaren's shot was kept out at the expense of a corner, which required a robust clearance from Matt Elliott.

But back came Leicester and, after 22 minutes, Frank Sinclair volleyed over from the edge of the area.

Two minutes later James Scowcroft was brought down by Leigh Bromby but Izzet's poor free-kick looped harmlessly over the bar.

It was Wednesday, though, who came closest to opening the scoring when a fantastic 25-yard drive from Leon Knight was excellently beaten away by Walker.

Callum Davidson almost gave Leicester the lead after 65 minutes when his mis-hit shot deceived Pressman, went over his head but hit the underside of the bar and bounced away.

With ten minutes left Sinclair missed a great chance to break the deadlock for Leicester but he headed wide from six yards.
