Dover manager Nicky Forster celebrated a 3-1 win over Thurrock in his first home league game in charge.
Donovan Simmonds scored twice with James Walker adding the third as Dover moved into the top half of the table.
Forster told BBC Radio Kent: "Some of the performances have left us with questions but we're starting to settle down, we're getting close."
Bromley came from behind to draw with Maidenhead while Dartford, Welling and Tonbridge all lost.
Bromley were ahead inside a minute against Maidenhead but needed to come from 3-1 down to get the point.
Dartford's first game since selling top scorer Charlie Sheringham to Bournemouth was a 2-1 defeat at home to Truro. Dartford were 2-0 down in the first 10 minutes and only Tom Bonner's late goal gave Dartford hope.
Four Kent clubs won through to the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy. Kwesi Appiah scored two more goals for Margate to take his tally for the season to 15 as they beat Chipstead 3-1. Other winners were Folkestone, Hythe and Faversham.
Maidstone United are second in Ryman South after a 2-0 win over Crawley Down, while in the FA Vase Deal Town, winners of the competition in 2000, moved into the second round with a 2-1 win at Horsham YMCA. Erith Town, VCD Athletic and Tunbridge Wells joined them.
Canterbury City's 1-1 draw with Holmesdale cuts Herne Bay's lead at the top of the Kent league to four points, Bly Spartans are still four points clear at the top of the Kent Invicta League while no clubs in the Kent County League Premier Division had league games so Bromley Green still top the table by three points.
