Dartford manager Tony Burman has said his side need to be wary of becoming complacent after their impressive start to the season.
The Darts are second in the Blue Square Bet South table and just a point behind leaders Woking, but lost 3-1 to Boreham Wood on Saturday.
"You try to plan against it but it could be that," Burman admitted.
"But I'm proud of my players for 11 games, these things happen in football," he added.
The defeat by Boreham Wood, who lie 17th in the table, was only the Darts' second of the season and Burman was quick to defend his players.
It's a tie we want, they're good people at Cray, I'm delighted with it - and we want to progress to the next round"
Tony Burman on his side's FA Cup tie against Cray
"They've been brilliant for 11 games, they've been very, very good but they didn't do the things (on Saturday) that got them 26 points so far this season.
"The games against the teams from mid-table to bottom are the hardest in this league."
Dartford face in-form Ryman Premier Division side Cray Wanderers in the FA Cup third qualifying round on Saturday.
A win will see the Darts just one victory away from repeating last year's performance of playing in the first round proper of the FA cup, and although Burman expects Cray to provide tough opposition, he is still relishing one of the ties of the round.
"It's a tie we want, we want to be in the FA cup," he said. "They're good people at Cray, I'm delighted with the tie. We want to progress to the next round."
