Dorchester boss Hearn favours Weymouth groundshare

Dorchester Town

Dorchester Town boss Shaun Hearn says he is in favour of sharing their Avenue Stadium ground with Weymouth but only if it benefits his club financially.

Terras chairman George Rolls approached Hearn earlier this month regarding the move as his club could not afford to stay at Bob Lucas Stadium.

"If we can help them out and it benefits us financially then we'll do it," Hearn told BBC Radio Solent.

"We're nowhere near a decision, it comes down to what they will propose."

Hearn added: "So there's no deal in place, it's just something that has been discussed. The only benefit to us would be the source of revenue.

Weymouth have their own issues with Bob Lucas Stadium and no one has spoken to the leagues or anything yet so we'll have to wait and see

"Weymouth are not the only club who have asked about a possible ground share and we've always said we'd talk to anybody if it's right for our club."

Rolls recently denied reports that his club are being forced out of their home by the ground's current owners Wessex Delivery Partnership, but said he was in favour of sharing a home with the Magpies because it made financial sense.

"Weymouth have their own issues with Bob Lucas Stadium and no one has spoken to the leagues or anything yet so we'll have to wait and see. My priority at the moment is this club," added Hearn.
