Weymouth chairman George Rolls has claimed the club's potential groundshare with Dorchester Town is economically viable.

Rolls has spoken with Dorchester officials and claims that the move is the right thing for the Terras.

He told BBC Radio Solent: "It costs us more money playing at our stadium with our current crowds than if we had 100 supporters turn up at Dorchester."

Crowds at the Wessex Stadium this season are averaging around 500.

Rolls refuted suggestions the club are being driven out of their home by the ground's current owners Wessex Delivery Partnership.

"We've not spoken to Wessex Delivery Partnership about it, they might well be happy to carry on and wait to find us a new stadium somewhere in the borough, " Rolls added.

"That would hopefully mean we can stand on our own two feet. Or, if not, the site becomes redundant until WDP buy a new stadium."

A more pressing issue for Rolls is the upcoming general meeting on Thursday, 26 February.

He has previously publicly stated that he will walk away if he does not get the fans backing.

However, he has now told BBC Radio Solent that he may walk away even if he does.
