Bournemouth manager Lee Bradbury has blasted the referee's decision to postpone his side's match at Bristol Rovers as an 'absolute joke'.

The League One fixture on Tuesday was originally scheduled for December but postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

"We're disappointed with the decision, it's an absolute joke," Bradbury told BBC Radio Solent.

"The referee should've consulted us, he said the ball stopped in the puddles on the pitch and it blatantly didn't."

Speaking to BBC Radio Solent after the decision was made, referee Graham Salisbury said: "Because of the level of the water on the pitch we have made the decision that it isn't suitable for a game of football and my concern is that we couldn't have finished the game."

Bournemouth are currently second in the League One table and with just three points separating the Cherries from leaders Brighton, Bradbury says he was keen to get the game played.

"From my point of view it's a game we wanted to come and play," said the former Cherries striker.

"The players have prepared all week for this and were geared up and ready for today. We had a great chance of winning it so to have it taken away is disappointing, but hopefully we can get it played in the next month."

Bournemouth host Huddersfield on Saturday at Dean Court, looking to extend their unbeaten run to seven league games.
