Didcot Town must maintain form - Ady Williams

Didcot Town boss Ady Williams has challenged his side to maintain their impressive league form and prove they can avoid relegation.

Didcot, who sit bottom of the Zamaretto League Premier Division, visit Weymouth on Thursday looking to extend their unbeaten run to four league games.

Williams told BBC Oxford: "The last three games have been good to us, but the gauntlet has been set for my team.

"They now must keep those standards and raise them, starting with Weymouth."

Weymouth sit just one point and three places above Didcot in the division but a victory for the Railwaymen would mean they would escape the drop zone and leapfrog the Terras in the table.

"It's a massive game but all we can control is ourselves, we've looked threatening and solid, so if we keep playing like that then we'll pick up points in this league," said the ex-Reading captain.

Didcot are rooted to the bottom of the table having won just four of their 27 games this season.

They also beat Windsor & Eton twice but had those six points deducted after the Royalists' record was expunged following a winding-up order on 2 February.

But Williams says he is proud of the way his players have responded to the points loss.

"Of course this season hasn't gone fantastically well and we know that, but let's not forget six points were taken off us and that hurt us," he said.

"So we've been kicked while we've been down but the response from the lads has been even better, they've been real men out there and long may it continue."

I wouldn't be doing my job if I weren't looking but for now I'm sticking with what I've got

Despite their current league position, Williams insists he will not be looking to make drastic changes to his squad.

"The lads of late have been playing really well and we have created chances so, OK, we have squandered some of them but at the moment I am happy with this squad," said the former Wales international.

"That's not to say I'm not looking for new players. I wouldn't be doing my job if I weren't looking but for now I'm sticking with what I've got.

"As I said, I'm really pleased with the last few games, there's not a lot missing from this squad."
