Guiseley hold Harrogate Town to draw

Harrogate Town

Harrogate Town earned a point against Guiseley on Tuesday in their first goalless draw under the leadership of manager Simon Weaver.

Weaver took charge at the CNG Stadium at the start of last season and he told BBC Radio York it was a valuable point against the promotion chasers.

"You could say that we rode our luck first half," he said.

"We hit the bar later on and we could have even nicked it. But we're satisfied to get a point, definitely."

Weaver added: "They had more possession of the ball and they cut through us a couple of times. But once we got the back four squeezed up into more of the middle of the park and congested it we made it a real contest."

Meanwhile Weaver said it was bad news for defender Richard Pell, who injured his knee in Saturday's defeat at Hinckley.

"It's pretty bad. It's an eight-week job. They're still intact, his medial knee ligament, but it's going to be quite a long job," he said.

"There won't be much of the season left for him but I just wanted to assure him that we want him at the club next season.

"I told him that before the game because I know how low you can be when you've had that injury. He's been a tower of strength in the last few months."
