Southern Premier League: Salisbury City 0-6 Truro City

Barry Hayles
Hayles has been playing for Truro since last September

Truro City returned to the top of the Southern Premier League with an emphatic 6-0 win over title rivals Salisbury City.

Former Plymouth Argyle striker Barry Hayles netted a hat-trick for the visitors as they dominated proceedings at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium.

Substitute Les Afful scored twice with Andy Taylor the other name name on the scoresheet for Truro.

The win puts Truro one point ahead of Salisbury at the top of the table.

The Cornish outfit are on 62 points from 30 matches, while Salisbury have 61 points, having played only 28 games.

Truro City manager Lee Hodges told BBC Radio Cornwall:
"It's hard to praise one individual tonight because I think everyone was on it and they all performed to the levels that they should be at.

"The way Barry Hayles has been playing for us this season he deserves to get a hat-trick.

"I'm also really pleased for Les (Afful) to come on and score a couple of goals himself, so it was a fantastic night, but when you look at it it's only three points, nothing more than that."
