Boyes brace helps Boston to derby win over Gainsborough
Adam Boyes scored his first goals since arriving from Scunthorpe
Boston United climbed to second in Blue Square Bet North with a 3-0 win over county rivals Gainsborough Trinity at the Northolme on Tuesday night.
New recruit Adam Boyes scored his first two goals for the Pilgrims, either side of one by Danny Sleath.
Boyes turned in a Jamie Yates cross on six minutes and rounded the keeper to roll in his second on 70, with Sleath notching on the stroke of half-time.
A Ryan Kendall bicycle kick over the bar was as close as Trinity came.
Gainsborough keeper Gavin Ward also denied midfielder Shane Clarke a first Pilgrims goal in stoppage time, diving full length to palm away his drive.
Boston joint manager Paul Hurst, who had been anxious to see his side bounce back from Saturday's 2-0 defeat by Worcester, told BBC Lincolnshire: "I thought at times we played some good stuff.
"Overall, it was thoroughly deserved, we wanted to see the players with a smile on their faces and you only get that if you win."
