Joint-boss Paul Hurst praises Boston United resilience
Spencer Weir-Daley's goal was his 10th of the season
Boston United joint-manager Paul Hurst praised the character shown by his players in their 1-0 win at Gloucester City in Blue Square Bet North.
Spencer Weir-Daley's 23rd-minute goal proved decisive as the Pilgrims recorded their first win of 2011.
Hurst told BBC Lincolnshire: "We kept a clean sheet, defended properly and it's pleasing to get back to winning ways.
"The performance was indifferent, but what was never in doubt was the character and the effort."
Weir-Daley had two early chances to put Boston ahead, including a lob which was cleared off the line by Tigers defender Tom Hamblin, before netting his 10th goal of the season from close range.
In the second half Anthony Church's free-kick struck the crossbar and the Pilgrims had a strong penalty appeal turned down following a challenge on sub Miles Hunter.
We were up against it in terms of territory but not in terms of chances created

At the other end Hector Mackie hit the crossbar soon after Boston's opener, and keeper Dan Haystead saved well from Darren Edwards.
Hurst said: "We looked dangerous in the first 25 minutes and there only looked like being one winner.
"I felt if we got in front we could go on and win convincingly but that wasn't the case. Normally a goal gives you confidence but it seemed to sap ours.
"We were up against it in terms of territory but not in terms of chances created, but I felt we played better against Gainsborough when we lost, and against Eastwood where we only got a point."
