Boston Utd joint boss Rob Scott blasts poor defending

Boston United joint-manager Rob Scott blasted his side's defending after they were held to a 2-2 draw at Eastwood Town in Blue Square Bet North.

The Pilgrims needed a late equaliser from Mikel Suarez to avoid a second defeat in three days.

Scott told BBC Lincolnshire: "Our defending was embarrassing at times but we showed great character to come back and get a point.

"It's like we've come back after our break and forgotten how to defend."

Lee Stevenson's long-range strike put Eastwood ahead after 16 minutes, with Spencer Weir-Daley equalising for Boston three minutes later.

Stevenson restored the home side's advantage five minutes from time, but their lead lasted barely 60 seconds before Suarez headed home Gareth Jelleyman's cross.

The draw came just two days after Boston lost 3-1 at home to Lincolnshire rivals Gainsborough Trinity in their first league match in seven weeks.

Scott added: "We've gone from being one of the best defensive units in the league to looking like we can't defend against a team of cub scouts, but I was pleased with a point in the end.

"We can go forward without a shadow of a doubt but defensively we're a bit naïve so it's something we'll have to work on and possibly get back to square one with it."
