Boston United have signed goalkeeper Dan Haystead, 24, from Blue Square Bet North rivals Hinckley United.

Haystead, who replaces James McKeown after his recall by Peterborough, played under Pilgrims joint-bosses Rob Scott and Paul Hurst at Ilkeston.

Hurst told BBC Lincolnshire: "He showed there that he's going to be a good goalkeeper and every time we've played against him Dan's been outstanding.

"He's got the right attitude and works hard and I think he'll fit in."

McKeown's loan from the League One side expires after Boston's Blue Square Bet North match against Lincolnshire rivals Gainsborough Trinity on New Year's Day.

Hurst said: "He's a good young player who's been getting competitive games, he was part of a fantastic run of clean sheets and he's been outstanding for us but we always knew there was a chance he would be going back."
