Lincoln City boss Steve Tilson keen to boost defence
Steve Tilson took charge at Lincoln City in October 2010
Lincoln City manager Steve Tilson says he will look at several trialists as he seeks to bring an experienced defender to Sincil Bank.
The Imps have conceded 11 goals in their last three home games, including their 4-3 FA Cup defeat by Hereford.
But Tilson told BBC Lincolnshire: "To try and get an experienced centre-half on a permanent deal is difficult.
"Most of the players you try to go for are there on loan deals, there aren't many available on a permanent one."
Lincoln already have four loanees at the club - Ashley Grimes, Luke Howell, Gavin Hoyte and Ben Hutchinson - and Football League rules permit a maximum of five in a side.
Tilson stressed that finding the funding to strengthen his squad was not an issue.
"It's not a case of whether the board will back me, it's a case of trying to identify players who will improve us and are available on a permanent deal," he added.
