McNiven breaks City hearts with late Droylsden winner

Worcester City

Droylsden striker David McNiven scored three minutes into added time to end Worcester City's three-game unbeaten Blue Square Bet North run.

Defender Mark Clyde put City ahead at the Butchers Arms with a goal after only seven minutes.

But Clyde had a second effort ruled out for pushing before Colin Cryan levelled for the home side on 54 minutes.

McNiven's late winner was harsh on a City side that did more than enough to have taken something from the game.

City manager Carl Heeley told BBC Hereford and Worcester:

"Again I am talking about a poor official who has booked their number 10, for what was a clear right hook on the back of Ryan Clarke's head.

"The last time I looked at the rules of playing football that is a sending-off and, immediately after the incident, they substituted him.

"We're nearly halfway through the season and this appalling standard of officials is continuing."
