AFC Telford United winger John keen to fill Mills void
John played under Andy Sinton at Fleet Town
AFC Telford United winger Philip John said he is ready to fill the void left by Greg Mills, who has rejoined parent club Derby County.
Mills, 20, decided against extending his loan with the Bucks despite both clubs agreeing a deal.
John told BBC Radio Shropshire: "Even when Greg Mills was here I was always desperate to get into the team.
"It's a great opportunity now though to get in. I've been working hard, trying to make sure I'm fit as I can be."
John played under manager Andy Sinton at Fleet Town and travels from Reading to play for the Bucks in the Blue Square Bet North.
"He's got the potential to play in a higher league. He's got electric pace. If I go with him I would have no fears. He's certainly in the frame, but I may decide to change our formation to 4-3-3 so we'll have to wait and see," said Sinton.
And Sinton is considering whether to give the young winger his chance against Workington on Saturday.
The boss took a look at a number of young professionals at training on Thursday night but thought it was unlikely he would make any new additions to his squad before Saturday.
