Shrewsbury Town revert to blue and amber for new season

New strip for 2011-12

Shrewsbury Town fans have voted to go back to blue and amber shirts next term after this season's one-off blue strip to mark their 125th anniversary year.

Supporters have opted for a striped shirt, with blue shorts and socks.

"It's been an interesting debate on colours and designs, and the views were diverse," said Town's community manager Martin James.

"We hope blue and amber stripes will make Shrewsbury Town fans stand out, as well as the team."

The stripes design was the most popular of the choices given to fans, attracting more than half the votes.

This season's blue shirts and white shorts were brought back in to mark the club's original colours 125 years ago.

But Shrewsbury's recent history, especially their great days under Graham Turner in his first spell in charge, has been more closely associated with blue and amber.
