James Collins scored twice in a loan spell with Darlington last season

Shrewsbury Town have completed two signings by bringing in Aston Villa youngster James Collins and Bristol Rovers winger Mark Wright.

Striker Collins, 20, who had been on loan at Burton Albion, has now agreed an 18-month contract at the Meadow.

Town have also agreed terms for 28-year-old Wright, who spent the first half of the season with them on loan.

Wright's loan came to an end following Shrewsbury's 1-0 defeat against Crewe Alexandra on Monday.

But Town boss Graham Turner was keen to bolster his striking options after just one goal in three games.

And he has now secured a permanent deal for Wolverhampton-born Wright, who has already hit 10 goals in 24 appearances during his loan spell.

Both Wright and Collins, who scored five goals during his two-month spell at the Pirelli Stadium, are expected to be included in the squad to play Morecambe on Saturday.
