Joint Boston boss Rob Scott calls for FA Trophy run

Scott and co-manager Paul Hurst took charge at Boston in May 2009

Boston United joint-manager Rob Scott hopes their FA Trophy win at York will be the platform for a good cup run.

The Pilgrims beat the Blue Square Bet Premier side 1-0 in round one to earn a second round home tie against league rivals Gloucester City.

Scott told BBC Lincolnshire: "We've often highlighted the fact that we'd like a run in a cup competition.

"We'll be going out to win the match, particularly with it being at home, and looking to progress to the next round."

Boston won promotion to Blue Square Bet North last season under Scott and co-manager Paul Hurst, but lost in the second qualifying round of both the FA Cup and FA Trophy and went out at the same stage of the FA Cup to Worcester City this season.

Scott added: "We'd have liked a run in the FA Cup this year but that didn't happen so the next best thing is the FA Trophy.

"The tie away at York attracted attention but we're happy with the home draw, it's a chance for our fans to see us in the Trophy and hopefully we'll make the hard-fought game at York all the more worthwhile by getting a result."

The Pilgrims' second-round tie is scheduled for Saturday, 15 January at 1500 GMT.
