Boston United returned to the top of Blue Square Bet North after seeing off Corby Town on Tuesday.
Substitute Miles Hunter scored 19 minutes from time to lift the Pilgrims above Alfreton on goal difference.
Hunter, a summer signing from Sleaford, had only been on the pitch for four minutes when he headed in Gareth Jelleyman's free-kick.
Boston had the better of the other chances as they recorded their 10th successive clean sheet in the league.
