Ryan Kendall hat-trick inspires Gainsborough to victory

Gainsborough Trinity

Ryan Kendall scored a hat-trick as Gainsborough beat Redditch United 3-0 in Blue Square Bet North to secure their first home win of the season.

The striker turned home Ryan Williams' cross for the eighth-minute opener before adding the second on 70 minutes following good work from Sam Aiston.

Five minutes from time he blasted home Nathan Peat's long pass for his treble.

Williams also hit the crossbar while keeper Phil Barnes denied Reds pair Phil Green and Jordan Fitzpatrick.

Kendall told BBC Lincolnshire: "I'll get the credit for the goals but the whole team played well today."

In the end it turned out great, most things went the way we wanted and we feel we're getting there

Brian Little

Manager Brian Little said: "Ryan's third goal was a tremendous finish with the outside of his right foot, he executed it fantastically, and the first two were poacher's goals.

"The game had a bit of everything and until we got the second goal I didn't feel totally comfortable.

"But in the end it turned out great, most things went the way we wanted and we feel we're getting there."
