Leon Constantine happy to be reunited with Martin Foyle
Leon Constantine scored 32 goals in 72 league games under Foyle at Port Vale
Leon Constantine says his respect for Martin Foyle led to him linking up with his former boss at York City.
The striker, 32, who worked with Foyle at Port Vale, scored one goal and set up the other after coming off the bench as York beat Rushden & Diamonds 2-0.
He told BBC Radio York: "[Foyle] is a major, major factor in me coming here.
"We've got a good understanding. He helped me out when I was at Port Vale and it was good playing under him, and to do it again was a selling point."
Desperate for a replacement for last season's top scorer Richard Brodie, who left three minutes before the transfer deadline, Foyle's lucky break came when he discovered Constantine was a free agent.
"That was the only way I could get round today's rules," said Foyle, "I'd kept in touch with Leon and I know what he can offer."
My aim's just to keep trying to put in good performances and help the team to do well

"When I was at Leeds I lived in Yorkshire and I enjoyed it," Constantine added. "And I've got off to a good start."
"I've got that experience. I've played in the League for about ten years now, you learn things along the way, and I'm still learning as well," Constantine added.
"My aim's just to keep trying to put in good performances and help the team to do well."
And Foyle believes he will be able to get the best out of the former Northampton Town and Hereford United player.
"Your bread-and-butter goals are in and around the box and that's why he will always score goals," said Foyle.
"You put your arm around him, make him feel wanted and make him feel a good player and I'm sure he'll add something good to us. Praise goes a long way in today's game."
