Boston United began their pre-season campaign with a 1-0 victory over Grimsby Town at York Street.

Ryan Semple scored the only goal in the second minute, turning home James Cullingworth's cross from close range.

Pilgrims joint-manager Paul Hurst told BBC Lincolnshire: "It was a good workout and nice to get a win, although pre-season isn't about getting results.

"We asked the players to work on their fitness and to pass the ball well and that's what they've done."
