Boston United have signed defender Kieran Murphy from their Blue Square North rivals Ilkeston Town.

The 22-year-old played under Pilgrims joint bosses Paul Hurst and Rob Scott two seasons ago, helping them to promotion from the Unibond League.

Last season Murphy captained Ilkeston as they finished seventh in their debut season in Blue Square North.

Scott said: "We know all about his qualities having played alongside and managed him at Ilkeston."

Murphy is the Pilgrims' second signing of the week, following prolific striker Miles Hunter's move to York Street from United Counties League side Sleaford Town.
