Harrogate Town have signed former Gateshead winger Wayne Phillips on a free transfer after a spell on trial.
Phillips signed before the friendly against a Scunthorpe XI and he becomes their eight new signing this summer.
Town manager Simon Weaver said he had beaten a number of other clubs to secure Phillips's signature.
"He couldn't go full-time at Gateshead and we had to act quickly because Workington and Blyth were both after him," he said.
"He's been recommended to us by a few people including [former Gateshead manager] Graeme Armstrong.
"He told me that in their promotion season, the season before last, Wayne unlocked a lot of doors for them during games.
"He's been very receptive in training and he has a good left foot, something we were missing last season.
"It's early days, but he has good ability."
