Former Hereford United and Worcester City player Matt Gardiner has been named as Redditch's new manager.

Gardiner, who succeeds outgoing boss Gary Whild, has appointed his ex-Bulls team-mate John Snape as his number two at the Valley Stadium.

Gardiner, who has had three spells as as a player at Redditch, said: "I am excited about the challenge and have begun planning for the new season.

"I am under no illusions of the testing and challenging season we have ahead."

He continued: "I am very confident, both John [Snape] and I understand what it takes to be competitive at this level.

"Whilst we will have a very tight budget to work with, we will strive to blend the right mix of experience, youth and local talent in order for the community to be proud of its football club."
