Phil Jaques puzzled by Worcestershire four-day form

Worcestershire opener Phil Jaques says he cannot understand his four-day form after five ducks in six innings.

Jaques hit a one-day century against Glamorgan in the Clydesdale Bank 40 but has managed only 113 runs in eight first-class innings this season.

He told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "I haven't been able to buy a run, hopefully I can change that next week.

"I have never had a run of five ducks in six knocks - this is not the sort of thing you want to wish upon anybody.

The Australian, who has 11 Test caps, added: "The one-day form has been OK, but the Championship stuff has been disappointing to say the least."

"We have played on a few spicy wickets, but I'm not going to make excuses, I just haven't fired in the four-day stuff.

"I've had a couple of good deliveries and you get that at the top of the order."
