Sittingbourne have won the Kent Senior Cup for the first time in 52 years.

They saw off Folkestone Invicta - newly promoted to the Ryman League Premier Division - with a 3-1 victory in the final at Cheriton Road.

A goal down at the break, the Brickies hit back through Colin Richmond, Hicham Akhazzan and Tom Bradbrook.

"I've won it a couple of times as a player, but for me in my second full season I'm so proud," manager Gary Abbott told BBC Radio Kent.

"I know now what it's like to win something as a manager and it's a better feeling than when you're a player," he said.

"I wanted the players to go and enjoy it and really I wanted it for them, and for the supporters as well.

Everything was all about whether Folkestone were going to do the double

"It was even nicer that we scored our three goals in our supporters' end.

"They deserved that as much as the whole club deserved it. It was just a brilliant night and I'm still buzzing over it."

Folkestone Invicta were hoping to finish their season off in style, having won promotion from the Ryman League Division One South via the play-offs.

Abbott admitted he enjoyed spoiling the party for Invicta fans.

"Everything was all about whether Folkestone were going to do the double and it was probably in a lot of the fans' thoughts as well.

"We knew different and we knew how good the team are.

"We've beaten them three times this season, yet they've gone up to the Ryman Premier and they wanted to win it last night.

"So to come from behind and to get three goals as well - which no team all season has done - that's another little thing that we've got up on them."
