Alfreton Town sign Hucknall striker Tyeisse Nightingale

Blue Square North

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law has signed striker Tyeisse Nightingale from Unibond League Premier Division neighbours Hucknall Town.

Nightingale, 24, has been in fine form for the Nottinghamshire team this season, scoring 18 goals.

Meanwhile assistant boss Russ O'Neill hailed his side after Tuesday's 5-0 win over fellow play-off chasers Droylsden.

O'Neill said: "When we got tight, we overpowered them. We were exceptional in parts and it was a great result."

Goals from Paul Clayton and Jake Moult put the Reds in control and a 20-minute Liam Hearn hat-trick sealed the rout.

O'Neill, whose side lie third in Blue Square North, added: "They are a good side with good players going forward.

This was a top-draw all-round performance

The win means Nicky Law's men are now 12 games unbeaten and are five points ahead of fourth-placed Hinckley United and 11 points ahead of the teams lying just outside the play-offs.

"The first half was an even affair. They had good spells and possession, but when you have got people like Liam Hearn and Paul Clayton you have always got a chance of winning games," O'Neill said.

"It's not just about the strikers though and Paddy Gamble has produced two great saves at the end of the first half to send us in 3-0 up.

"This was a top-draw all-round performance. We know what we are all about and if we get tight to teams

"I have seen Droylsden four or five times this season and if you sit off them they will take you to the cleaners and run you ragged.

"To be fair though, we forced them into mistakes and wore them down in the end."
