Harrogate Town boss Weaver bemoans 'dire' performance
Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver says his side were "weak in a lot of areas," in their defeat 4-0 at home by Stalybridge in Blue Square North.
"It's down to people now to really show their worth. It was dire. Some of the experienced lads were just void of any character," Weaver told BBC Radio York.
"Sometimes when you're in this sort of position, you find out about people."
Town are still bottom of the table, but the possible demise of both Chester and Farsley means they could yet stay up.
Coincidentally, Town have a trip to Farsley scheduled for Tuesday 9, March, but that game is in severe doubt because Celtic have failed to fulfil their last two fixtures.
"We hope the game's on because we want to start winning games and there's no finer game to do it in than a local derby," added Weaver
"We may have to wait until the end of the season to find out whether one goes down, two go down or three go down. The performance levels have to be a lot better, that's what we're concentrating on.
"It was particularly disappointing with the second goal. No one's made a tackle and he's just waltzed around players, and you're thinking, where's the fight here?"
The defeat was bad enough to have Weaver contemplating a return to his role as a player.
"I said I'd step to one side but I might have to go for a run in the morning to see what my fitness is like," he said.
"There was more fight and vocal aggression on the sidelines with myself and Tom Wade than I had from 11 players on the pitch."
