Hessenthaler is now looking forward to a promotion fight
Dover manager Andy Hessenthaler described Saturday's 2-1 win at Braintree as a "benchmark" performance.
Hessenthaler, who took Whites to the top of the table early in the season, hopes the worst is over following a recent dip in form.
He told BBC Radio Kent: "We produced what I would describe as a benchmark performance at Braintree.
"We knew Braintree would be well organised and our performance told us a lot about ourselves."
Hessenthaler is relishing a tight finish to the season as the scramble to qualify for the Blue Square South play-off places hots up.
"For the last two seasons we've wrapped up promotion early. This season there is still so much to play for as we go for a third straight promotion," he explained.
"Providing we stay clear of serious injuries, we can cement our place among the play-off places. I've no doubt about that."
