Goals from defender Steve Elliott and on-loan striker Paul Heffernan gave Bristol Rovers an impressive victory over promotion-chasing Charlton.
The visitors were dealt an early blow when Grant Basey was stretchered off with a suspected broken leg and they fell behind when Elliott volleyed in.
Heffernan sealed the win when he burst clear to unleash a powerful right-footed shot into the net.
Therry Racon's injury-time 20-yard strike was a consolation for Charlton.
Bristol Rovers manager Paul Trollope told BBC Radio Bristol:
"We've thought long and hard and worked long and hard on a lot of issues over the last two weeks.
"I'm not saying everything in the garden is rosy, because one result doesn't change things overnight.
"But certainly I was very proud of the way all the players showed a terrific spirit, a terrific desire and commitment to the football club."
