Boss Paul Hurst praises Boston United after late winner
Boston lost Gareth Davies to a red card after 34 minutes
Boston joint manager Paul Hurst praised his side's character after beating Buxton 2-1 deep in stoppage time after playing with 10 men for almost an hour.
The Pilgrims saw Gareth Davies sent off on 34 minutes for violent conduct.
But Liam Parker's goal seven minutes into second-half injury time gave Boston victory in the UniBond Premier.
"When we went down to 10 men I thought we were superb. It was fantastic character from the players," Hurst told BBC Radio Lincolnshire.
Boston had led 1-0 through Shaun Pearson's 59th minute header, but a goal five minutes from time by Mark Reed levelled the scores.
Hurst said the last-ditch win was the perfect response after he and fellow boss Rob Scott had accused players of being "too nice" in the 1-0 defeat at Kendal.
"It was a man's performance today. I think one or two people accused the team of not having that in their locker, but they've answered those questions," he said.
Hurst, who said he didn't see the sending-off incident, believed going down to 10 men sparked the Pilgrims into life.
"Buxton started better and we were struggling. It was a flat performance and then all of a sudden the sending-off changed things," he said.
"I can't remember [Boston keeper] Tom Evans making too many saves in the second half."
