Heggs returns to Redditch

Redditch United have brought Carl Heggs back to the Valley Stadium following his unfortunate experience at King's Lynn, who folded last month.

Heggs, who left Redditch this summer to take over as King's Lynn player-boss, has come back in time for Saturday's return clash with Eastwood Town.

Despite taking a first-minute lead, Gary Whild's Reds lost 2-1 at home to Eastwood on Tuesday night.

Redditch are now 16th in Blue Square South, six points clear of danger.

And, having not played since New Year's Day until Tuesday night, boss Whild suggests that fitness levels have dropped during Redditch's enforced break.

"Some looked in better shape than others," he told BBC Hereford & Worcester. "If you can't have them in training, you rely on them behaving themselves over Christmas."
