Heeley played over 500 games for Worcester City

New Worcester City caretaker manager Carl Heeley says there will be no excuses if the Blue Square South club go down following his appointment.

Heeley, who played over 500 games for the club before becoming Richard Dryden's assistant, has been appointed manager until the end of the season.

"It's an honour to have been given this job," he told the club's website.

"The season's aim now is to move away from the relegation zone. I won't ever be using any excuses."
