AFC Telford ready to play after their enforced break

AFC Telford try but fail to get the pitch fit ahead of the Farsley game (16 Jan)

AFC Telford United assistant boss Larry Chambers says they have been working hard to ensure the winter lay-off has not dented their promotion hopes.

The Bucks game at Stafford on Tuesday will be their first of 2010.

And Chambers told BBC Radio Shropshire: "The club has made sure we have had good training facilities, and we've worked hard.

"The lads all know we've got a massive period in front of us now and we're going into it in a very positive way."

Telford, who reached last season's Blue Square North play-off final, are in ninth place, four points off the top five but 16 points behind leaders Southport and second-placed Fleetwood.

"I don't think anyone likes being inactive, you train in the week with the aim of playing football but you've got to look at the positives," Chambers added.

"The break has given us the opportunity to clear up some lingering injuries with Andy Brown and Carl Rodgers, so when we start again we've got a pretty fit squad and everyone's up for the challenge ahead."
