AFC Telford pull out of signing Worcester's Tom Kemp
Kemp was named Worcester City's captain at the start of this season
AFC Telford United have pulled out of the deal to sign Worcester captain Tom Kemp after a contractual disagreement.
"The deal had been agreed, but Kemp raised last-minute questions over clauses in the contract," chairman Lee Carter told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"It was an absolute surprise to me as nothing in that contract had changed. We'll now look elsewhere."
Worcester City's centre-half was seen as an immediate replacement for Gavin Cowan, who has joined Fleetwood.
But Telford's failure to land Kemp has left chairman Carter clearly feeling let down.
"I am personally finding it very difficult to comprehend the fact that people involved in football at this level continue to quibble over what amounts to peanuts per week," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.
We are no longer going to be bullied
Telford chairman Lee Carter
"Especially when I have supporters writing to me apologising because they have lost their jobs and can no longer afford the admission fee.
"I am finding it increasingly difficult to accept the concept that our hard work should help to pay for and reward reputation rather than achievement and success.
"The events of the last two days should be a firm line in the sand as far as this club is concerned.
