A red card for full-back Shabir Khan proved the turning point as Worcester City went down 1-0 at Blue Square South leaders Newport County.
The City defender was dismissed following a second-half off-the-ball clash with Newport's Kerry Morgan.
The Exiles then made the extra man count when Sam Foley netted the 79th-minute winner.
Alfie Carter had City's best chance when he rounded keeper Glyn Thompson but his goal-bound effort was cleared.
Worcester manager Richard Dryden told BBC Hereford and Worcester:

"It was the harshest and most laughable red card I have ever seen.
"The sending-off was laughable as Shabir is running back, their player is looking the other way and they run into each other.
"What the linesman has seen I just have not got a clue as Shabir was looking away. It is very disappointing."
