Former Worcester City chairman Dave Boddy quits board
Former Worcester chairman Boddy will stay on the Conference board.
Former Worcester City chairman Dave Boddy has resigned as a director of the club after 10 years on the board.
But Boddy says he has no regrets about the way he ran the club in his five years as chairman.
"I felt I'd done everything I could," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester. "I don't feel I can contribute any more than I have in the past."
Boddy says a recent fans' petition for him to stand down from the board had no influence on his decision to resign.
"Nothing cold be further from the truth," he added. "I accept that there are critics out there. When you put yourself in the position I've been in you are open to criticism.
"But there has been no pressure from anyone else. The fans' petition has had absolutely no bearing on my decision."
You have to take a reality check and take a look at your life. You have to do what is right for you

Boddy admits that mistakes were made during his reign as chairman, when the club tried to sell St George's Lane and move to a new ground.
"I don't think any board of directors could have done more over the ground sale than we did.
"You look back and we made mistakes, but they were honest mistakes with the best intention of Worcester City and for the right reasons.
"The key is the credit crunch. We could have delivered the new stadium before that, and I don't think I can be blamed for the credit crunch.
"The city council planners have played a large part in that as I think they could have delivered the planning permission we were asking for.
St George's Lane could have fetched over 7m, says Boddy
"We sat with the planners half a dozen times and they said in principle that the application we had put in was acceptable.
"If that had been passed we would have been sitting on £7.4 million but the planners looked at it and decided they were going to reject it.
"We had six or seven offers on the table, via a commercial agents and every offer was subject to satisfactory planning and that was a clause on every application we had."
Boddy, who currently works for the Football Conference based in Birmingham, says that he will remain a supporter of the club and plans to stay in the game.
"I have not stepped down from the Conference board." he said. "They want me to carry on in that capacity.
But he says that the problems at St George's Lane have affected his personal life.
"In many ways," he said. "More recently with my health. That has been a big factor.
"You have to take a reality check and take a look at your life. You have to do what is right for you. There are other things in life I want to do."
