Carlisle defender Tom Aldred tipped by Workington boss
Aldred is a Scotland under-19 international
Workington Reds boss Darren Edmondson has tipped Carlisle United defender Tom Aldred for success following his three-month loan spell at Borough Park.
Aldred made 14 appearances in league and cup, scoring once, and Edmondson has been impressed with the 19-year-old's attitude and maturity.
"If he keeps his head in the place he's in now he'll have a fantastic future," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"He sees the value of going out and playing first-team football."
Edmondson, a former Carlisle player himself, is keen to exploit the relationship built up between the two clubs following Aldred's return to Brunton Park.
"Hopefully he'll go back into the football club and other young pros will see what it has done for Tom and maybe the partnership will keep going on for a few years," he said.
"Hopefully we can keep picking the right ones that will help us, and hopefully as they've seen with Tom and Andy Cook, it'll help their career."
Aldred came through the Carlisle United academy after injury affected his progress at Blackburn Rovers, and has since earned Scotland under-19 honours.
He was also the winner of the 2009 Football League Apprentice of the Year award.
Workington travel to Solihull Moors in an FA Trophy third qualifying round replay on Tuesday, 8 December, kick-off 1945 GMT.
