Kyle Critchell was in his second spell with troubled Weymouth

Weymouth captain Kyle Critchell has joined local Blue Square South rivals Dorchester Town on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old defender has served two weeks' notice at the financially stricken Terras.

"It's the most difficult decision I've ever had to make," the 22-year-old told the Dorchester website.

"I hope people understand my reason for leaving. People who know me know I'm Weymouth through and through. But a lot has been going on behind the scenes."

Critchell, who was in his second spell at Weymouth, has also played for Torquay, Chesterfield, Wrexham and York.
