Harrogate point delights Weaver

Harrogate Town earned a valuable 2-2 draw at Fleetwood Town in Blue Square North to move within a point of climbing off the bottom of the table.

Rory Coleman twice scored an equaliser to keep the visitors in the game and give them a share of the points.

Manager Simon Weaver told BBC Radio York: "It was a fantastic performance. The timing of the goals set the scene for the spirit in the camp.

"It's been a tough time and I'm sure it will be a timely boost."

He added: "To come back in the manner that we did and with the quality of the goals we did was a real achievement and I'm sure it will be a timely boost."

Weaver was pleased with the performances of his two debutants - goalkeeper Aaron Ratchford and striker Keiran Leabon.

He said about Ratchford: "He was at Guiseley and I decided to give him a chance on a non-contract basis to begin with.

"He performed. He's come to a big place in our league and he's performed very very well.

"Keiran Leabon is a threat that probably we haven't had in terms of his pace.

"He can turn and have a go at people and really put the frighteners up them. He did very well and worked his socks off."

Weaver believes the club will be able to build on the win and move up the league table.

"It's all building blocks," he said. "We're trying to shape it and get the right characters in. I've had enough of shrinking violets at Harrogate Town.

"They've gone and now we've got a few winners and a bit of steel in there and I'm very pleased."
