Liam Blakeman's strike 13 minutes from time earned AFC Telford a 1-0 win at Solihull - their second in four days.

The Bucks, who face Lincoln in the FA Cup on Saturday, toiled until manager Rob Smith changed to three up front in the later stages.

"Danny Edwards, Phil Trainer and Tom Field had chances, and you felt a goal would come," Smith told BBC Shropshire.

Andy Brown had an effort disallowed but, after Blakeman's goal, Telford survived a strong home penalty appeal.

The win followed Saturday's victory against Workington, to lift 10th-placed Telford within six points of the Blue Square North play-off zone, with a game in hand on two of the three sides on 28 points.

And, including both their replayed FA Cup wins over Worcester City and Blyth Spartans, it was also a sixth clean sheets in their last seven outings.

"It was important we got these six points," said Smith. "We're starting to get somewhere near where we need to be in the league."
