King's Lynn's progress in the FA Trophy should, in some small way, help alleviate the financial problems surrounding the club at the moment.

It's a shame when we have to talk about finances all the time but unfortunately it's an issue affecting many clubs at present.

With the Linnets owing money to the tax man they could do with all the help they can get.

True, the prize money of £2,300 for beating Marine 1-0 on Saturday in the FA Trophy's first qualifying round isn't a huge amount of cash, but it will hopefully lead to a decent run in the competition and, in turn, more revenue.

Lowestoft Town won't be in the hat for the next round unfortunately however after going down 2-0 at Ryman Premier Division side Hendon.

In the Ridgeons Premier, Dereham Town were beaten 6-1 by leaders Leiston at Aldiss Park. And although the score-line was a flattering one, it was evident that the Magpies are a little short of confidence at the moment. A run of positive results will hopefully soon turn that around.

Wroxham moved up to seventh in the table with a 2-0 win at bottom club Harwich & Parkeston, while Kirkley and Pakefield are a place above them after recording a comfortable 4-0 victory over Histon Reserves.

Great Yarmouth Town are now the best placed Norfolk side in Ridgeons Division One. The Bloaters beat Long Melford 3-0 to move above Diss Town who lost by the same score-line to Halstead.
