Truro City take on Mangotsfield United in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
The Tigers go into the cup tie having failed to win in either of their last two league outings.
Mangotsfield play in the league below Truro, but Tigers boss Sean McCarthy told BBC Cornwall he would not underestimate the visitors.
He said: "They're not a bad side - they've got some strength in their team, but they've also got weaknesses."
Defensive errors have cost Truro dear in their last two games and McCarthy knows his players need to tighten things up at the back.
"What's frustrating is that we've played well in both games," he said. "Going forward we haven't got a problem because we create a lot of chances.
"We'll win more games than we lose, but unfortunately at the moment we've been making silly mistakes at the back," said McCarthy.
A win for Truro on Saturday would take them into the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history, and the City boss said it would be a momentous achievement.
"You want to get as far as you can really," he said.
"If you get knocked out fair and square then you've got to hold your hands up, but I think financially it's quite good for the club so we'll be trying to get as far as we can."
