Worcester move 'is in good shape'

St George's Lane
Worcester want to move from St George's Lane to Nunnery Way

Vice chairman Jim Panter says Worcester City's relocation plans remain on target, despite a report claiming it may not be economically feasible.

City's debts total around £2 million and the Blue Square South club are predicted to lose £60,000 this season.

"The move to Nunnery Way and the planning application for the building on St George's Lane are in good shape," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"We have every anticipation that they will work out."

"The move to the Nunnery Way site depends on planning permission being granted.

"Once that is granted then the scope of the plans and the development will dictate how we structure the stadium that we anticipate being built there," Panter added.

In the recent report to fans, the board also outlined other possibilities for the future of the club if the proposed ground move does not go ahead.

These include ground sharing options, collaborating with educational establishments and even merging with another club.

It's been disappointing that we've only had about 550 people in the first games of the season

The club were anticipating to boost revenue through improved crowds this season, but gates have not been as healthy as first hoped and City are bottom of the Blue Square South table.

"It's been disappointing that we've only had about 550 people in the first games of the season, but we fully understand that fans will turn up to watch a winning football team," he said.
