Gainsborough Trinity chairman Peter Swann has confirmed he is to meet with the leading candidate for the vacant manager's job.
Swann told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "Certainly the person I'll be speaking with is one of the favourites.
"I've promised the fans and the players and everyone here in Gainsborough I won't disappoint them and I don't think they'll be disappointed," he added.
Trinity sacked boss Steve Charles just four games into the new season.
The Blue Square North club have also confirmed backroom staff Dave Reeves & Steve Blatherwick have both left the club, while player Adie Moses has been put in temporary charge of the team.
