Stone looks for Banbury belief

Football

Banbury United striker David Stone has called on his teammates to show more belief ahead of the new campaign.

The Southern League Premier season gets underway on Saturday 15 August when Banbury will host Stourbridge.

Having earned a reprieve from relegation at the end of last season, Stone is hoping for an improvement this time around.

He told BBC Oxford: "We've just got to believe we're good enough and play with confidence and we'll win most games."

He added: "We are good enough. As we go on we should improve and get better and hopefully avoid relegation this season.

"We've just got to make sure we're safe first and then push on."

The striker scored ten goals in 16 appearances last season and he is hoping for more of the same this campaign.

"I'll just take each game as it comes and try to score every game and hopefully that will be enough at the end of the season," Stone said.
