Norfolk Senior Cup Final preview

Carrow Road
Norwich City's Carrow Road ground hosts the Norfolk Senior Cup final each year

Wroxham captain Graham Challen is promising goals in this year's Norfolk Senior Cup Final at Carrow Road.

The Yachstmen, who won the trophy last season, take on King's Lynn Reserves on Wednesday night.

The two meetings between the sides in the Ridgeons League this season have produced 15 goals, with Wroxham winning 6-0 and 5-4.

Challen told BBC Radio Norfolk: "I don't think it'll be a 0-0, I think there'll be plenty of goals."

Wroxham are firm favourites having beaten Sheringham in 2008's Carrow Road showpiece.

They are fifth in the Ridgeons League while Lynn's second string are only five points and two places clear of the relegation zone.

But King's Lynn manager Steve Lilley believes his side can rise to the occasion.

"I'm sure I'll make myself very unpopular with some players who don't make the squad but that's the nature of it and I think everyone appreciates that," he said.

"Last time we played we were 5-1 down but got back to 5-4 and I honestly believe we would have got an equaliser if there'd been another five minutes to play."

King's Lynn are likely to resist the temptation to bring in some of their first-team squad and instead stick with the players who have got them to the final.

There's full commentary on the Norfolk Senior Cup final on BBC Radio Norfolk FM and online at bbc.co.uk/norfolk on Wednesday 15 April from 1900BST.
